Attack on the Castle of Love; knights in armour fighting with swords; horses; couple on the battlements; ladies holding chaplets and flowers; two heralds in trees blowing trumpets; towers; portcullis.
Foliated corner terminals.

Museum's opinion 2009: French (Paris), 1st half of the 14th century.

Back turned with a depression for (missing) mirror. Blue and white label with the inscription: 'Collection Wernher no. 97'.

Object Condition
Hole in the upper edge.

Provenance
Collection of Émile Gavet: his sale, Paris, 31 May-9 June 1897, lot 319; Collection of Sir Julius Wernher (d. 1912), Bath House, London; on loan to English Heritage and displayed at Ranger's House since 2002.
