Register 1: Crucifixion; swooning Virgin supported by Holy Women; saint John the Evangelist and onlookers holding scrolls.
Register 2: Adoration of the Magi.
Border of dentils.

Warren 2014: France, mid 14th century (?).


Traces of two missing hinges on the left side.

Longer edges slightly chamfered.
White label containing the inscription: ‘St. George's exhibition, Duke of Norfolk, 1886’. White label containing the inscription: ‘13’.
Handwritten ink inscription in the lower right corner: ‘M.202.’.

Object Condition
Row of holes along all sides.
Missing: lower right corner.

Probably collection of Henry Howard, 15th Duke of Norfolk (b. 1847, d. 1917), possibly bought in 1885; Norfolk House sale, Christie's, London, 7 February 1938, lot 116 (with ill.); collection of John Francis Mallett; his bequest to the Museum in 1947; Department of Western Art (WA1947.191.202); transferred to the Department of Antiquities in May 2008.
