Panel 1
Register 1: entry into Jerusalem; apostles; tree.
Register 2: Christ before Pilate; soldiers in armour; Judas (?) pointing at Christ; servant holding a ewer; banners; throne; crown.
Panel 2
Register 1: Flagellation with Holy Women; whips.
Register 2: Resurrection; tomb; banner; three soldiers asleep; soldiers in armour; trees.
Prophets or apostles holding scrolls with painted inscriptions in the spandrels. Twisted columns.

Museum's opinion 2014: Italy, early 15th century.

Unknown

Polychromy - Gilding
Extensive traces of gilding and polychromy: plants, decoration on the tomb and on clothes; inscriptions; cross on the banner of the resurrected Christ; hair and beards; crown.

Reverse
Flat. Some crosshatching indicating that the figure of a saint, made of a different material, was glued onto the back of each panel.

Comments
Recessed around the edges.

Collection of Ralph Bernal (b. 1783, d. 1854), 93 Eaton Square, London: his sale, Christie's and Manson, London, 5 March 1855; purchased by the British Museum from John Webb, through Christie's, 1855.
