Register 1: youth with a hawk on his wrist; tree surrounded by a woven fence; lady holding a lure for hawks; lady wearing a conical hennin.
Register 2: female musician playing the harp; fountain decorated with monsters; male musician playing the shawm.
Body, front
Hunter with a spear; hunter with a bow; trees.
End, right
Dogs pursuing a stag; arrow in the stag's chest; hunter with a spear, blowing a horn; sun.
Body, back
Jousting knights with flying cloaks (looking like winged knights).
End, left
Gathering of pears (?); man holding a club to beat the tree and make the fruits fall; female figure collecting the fruits in her skirt; lady wearing a conical hennin; man with a stick.
Chequered pattern on the bottom.
Foliated borders; crosshatched background.

Kube 1925: Italy (Piemont?), 15th century.
Leningrad 1973 (Kryzhanovskaya): Italy (Lombardy), 15th century.

Traces of gilding and polychromy: gold (plants), green (trees, borders).

Carved on all sides.

Missing: upper left corner of the lid.

Collection of Alexander Petrovich Basilewski (b. 1829, d. 1899); acquired by the Museum in 1885.
