Seated Virgin and Child; Christ in long robe; Christ standing on the Virgin's right knee; Virgin holding a dove in her right hand.

Polychromy - Gilding
Faint traces of gilding and polychromy: red (Virgin's robe and veil), gold (Virgin's robe and Christ's hair).

Reverse
Flat with crosshatching at the back of the throne for attachment to a background surface.
Blue and white label with inscription: '910' and '437' (on the later wooden stand).

Object Condition
Missing: parts of the Virgin's veil and metal crown.
Once fixed onto a base.

Comments
This relief was probably intended as a centrepiece for tabernacle.

Provenance
Acquired by the Museum before 1861.
