Height: 93 mm
Width: 58 mm (centre panel)

Wing, left
Coat of arms with a man in bust; helm with lambrequins; scroll with inscription: 'h:V:L:'.
Centre panel
Crucifixion with the Virgin and saint John the Evangelist; rugged cross (tree of life?).
Wing, right
Coat of arms with a ram (von Rieneck arms); helm with lambrequins; inscription: 'I:V:R:'
Foliated decoration; acanthus scrolls (rinceaux); row of blind arches.

Longhurst 1929: 19th century, in the style of German work from the 15th century
Williamson and Davies 2014: Germany (Nuremberg?) or French (Paris?), probably c. 1840-50.


Attribution
Unknown

Hinges
Two hinges on either side. Hinges shaped like fleur-de-lys.

Reverse
Reverse smooth and flat and perfectly squared off.

Object Condition
Minor chip to bottom of back of left wing.

Comments
The wings have a carefully made rebate and lip on the outer edges.

Provenance
Acquired by the museum in Paris in 1856.
