Seated Virgin and Child; Christ standing on the Virgin's left knee; Christ holding a bird; Virgin holding a stem of flowers (?), in her right hand; brooch; bench.

Museum's opinion 2014: Middle Rhineland, last third of the 14th century.


Attribution
Atelier of the Kremsmünster Diptych (Koechlin 1924)

Reverse
Carved in the round.

Object Condition
Missing: head of Christ; fingers on the right hand of Christ; crown of the Virgin (probably originally metal); sceptre or stem of flowers held by the Virgin; ivory wedge at the base to make the statuette stand upright.

Acquired before 1896.
