Inhabited vine scrolls (rinceaux); grapes; foliage; lion attacking a stag; dog attacking a goat; bird.

New York 1954: Spanish, 13th or 14th century.
Randall 1993: French or English, mid-13th century.

Reverse
Crosshatched to receive glue for attachment. Deep recess.

Object Condition
Holes in the upper part of the piece.
Missing: stag's left rear hoof and horns.

Comments
It has been suggested that this fragment could come from a saddle-bow or a musical instrument.
