Seated Virgin and Child; Virgin holding a flower in her right hand; Christ holding a fruit in his left hand; Christ standing on the Virgin's left knee; Christ touching the back of the Virgin's veil; Christ in long robe; bench; crown.

Stuttmann 1966 and museum's opinion 2013: French, 14th century.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of modern gilding and polychromy: gold (along the hems and hair; crown), red (inside the Virgin's veil; flower; fruit), blue (lining of the Virgin's cloak), black (eyes; shoes).

Reverse
Flat, with crosshatching in the lower part.

Object Condition
Missing: thumb of the Virgin's right hand; part of the crown.

Provenance
Collection of Friedrich Georg Hermann Culemann (b. 1811, d. 1886), Hannover (no. 450); acquired by the city of Hannover in 1887.
