Saint John the Baptist holding the lamb of God (agnus dei); standing Virgin and Child (Vierge Glorieuse); Virgin holding a fruit in her right hand; angel crowning the Virgin; saint Barbara with tower and martyr's palm; brooch.
Crosshatched background. Foliated border.
Carved inscription: 'hanry. Lerdenoi'.

Koechlin Number: 0932

Koechlin 1924: France, late 15th century or early 16th century.
Gaborit-Chopin 2003 and Museum's opinion 2010: North-East of France, 2nd quarter of the 15th century.


Curved and smooth. Original handle replaced by a wooden one.

Object Condition
Small chips to the edges.

Probably originally commissioned by a man called Henri lerdenoi (see inscription). From the church of Saponay (Aisne). Collection of Étienne Moreau-Nélaton, Paris; gift of Étienne Moreau-Nélaton, 1911.
