Ivory

Height: 84mm
Width: 52mm

Trinity; God the Father holding Christ on the cross; Gnadenstuhl (Throne of Mercy); conflated with Crucifixion with the Virgin and saint John the Evangelist; angels holding the sun and the moon; dove of the Holy Spirit issuing from the mouth of God the Father; cruciform halo.
Pointed trefoils.

KIK/IRPA database: English, 14th century (?).
Museum's opinion 2013: France, 2nd quarter of the 14th century.

Attribution
Unknown

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Inscription: 'Mx.1476' and label with inscription '1476'.

Object Condition
Three sets of two holes along the left border, which may be traces of later hinges. Deep vertical crack.

Provenance
Donation of S. Moxhon in 1910 to the Musée d'Archéologie et d'Arts Décoratifs, which became the Département d'Arts Décoratifs of the Grand Curtius in 2009.
