Ivory

Register 1: Resurrection; two angels standing on the tomb with hands in prayer.
Register 2: Flagellation; whips.

Museum's opinion 2013: Paris, 1st half of the 14th century.


Hinges
Traces of two missing hinges on the left side.

Object Condition
Vertical cracks. Central hole in the tomb. Hole on either side of Christ in the lower register.

Comments
The left wing of this diptych is probably Sotheby's, New York, 7 December 1979, lot 284. See related objects.

Provenance
Collection of Hermann Josef Lückger (b. 1864, d. 1951). Purchased by the Museum in 1963.
