Side 1: standing Virgin and Child (Vierge glorieuse); two angels holding candlesticks.
Side 2: courting couple (meeting of lovers); youth with a hawk on his wrist; lady holding a chaplet.


Koechlin Number: 1222; 1222bis

Koechlin 1924: France, 1st half of the 14th century.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of polychromy in the spandrels: trace of pointed trefoils in the spandrels on side 1, traces of green (architectural details; candlesticks).

Reverse
Carved on both sides.

Object Condition
Side 2 abraded and stained, especially to the right.
Crosshatching along the left edge (when viewing side 1). Traces of glue along the lower edge.

Provenance
Found in the cemetery of Chevreuse in 1843 (according to a label recorded in the old museum files). Gillard collection, Nogeul le Roi (acquired in 1858). Acquired by the museum in 1863.
