Walrus ivory

Height: 60mm
Width: 42mm

Seated bishop with mitre and crozier; book.
Back of the throne with foliated decoration and chevron patterns.

Museum's opinion 2013: Norwegian or English (?), mid 13th century.

Carved in the round. Back of the throne with foliated decoration and chevron patterns.

Object Condition
Surface damage caused by burial. Some vertical breaks.
Front of the face chipped. Back of the throne slightly damaged.

Provenance
Found at the castle of Stegeborg. Donated to the Museum by Miss Mina Tottie in 1939.
