Register 1: Resurrection with three soldiers asleep, conflated with three Holy Women at the tomb; ointment pot; soldiers in armour; shield; blessing gesture. Coronation of the Virgin; angel crowning the Virgin; God the Father holding an orb and cross.
Register 2: Annunciation. Virgin supported by one of the Holy Women (part of a Crucifixion scene).

Polychromy - Gilding
Extensive traces of gilding and polychromy: gold (clothes, armours, hair, cross, etc.), blue (wings, shield, book, throne, clouds, etc.), red (banner, prie-Dieu, wings), green (crown of thorns; ground; certain haloes, etc.), brown (hair and beard of Christ in the Resurrection scene).Traces of a painted inscription on the scroll in the Annunciation scene 'AVE MARIA'.

Older labels with inscriptions: 'COLLECTION DU DR P. THOBY NANTES IX'; 'EXPOSITION D'ART RELIGIEUX 1933, LA PSALLETTE DE NANTES, 313'.
Object Condition
Missing: part of the upper right border; most of the lower right scene. Vertical crack between the Virgin and God the Father in the Coronation scene.
Comments
The cross-shaped compartment in the centre of the medallion would originally have enclosed relics (see the Pradelles reliquary for comparison).

Collection of Dr Thoby, Nantes (bought from art dealer Mayet, Paris, on 20 June 1929; no. IX in Thoby's collection): his bequest to the museum in 1969.
