Wing, left
Standing Virgin and Child (Vierge glorieuse); angel crowning the Virgin; two angels holding candlesticks.
Wing, right
Crucifixion; swooning Virgin supported by Holy Women; saint John the Evangelist and onlookers holding scrolls; sun and moon; rugged cross.
Medallions enclosing quatrefoils with protruding cones in the spandrels.

Museum's opinion 2010: French, 1st half of the 14th century.

Hinges
Two hinges.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Horizontal incisions alongside the edges in the lower part of the panels. Blue and white label with the inscription: 'Collection Wernher no. 694'.

Object Condition
Two later drilled holes in the upper part of each wing for suspension. Three holes in the upper edges of both wings.

Provenance
Collection of Sir Julius Wernher (d. 1912), Bath House, London; on loan to English Heritage and displayed at Ranger's House since 2002.
