Nativity and annunciation to the Shepherds.
Wing, right
Crucifixion; swooning Virgin supported by Holy Women; saint John the Evangelist and onlookers holding scrolls; angel holding the sun and the moon.
Medallions enclosing quatrefoils with rosettes in the spandrels.

Mallé 1969: Germany, 2nd half of the 14th century.
Museum's opinion 2010: Rhenish, 2nd half of the 14th century.

Two hinges (one missing).

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Bands of carved foliated decoration (flowers).

Comments
Known between ca. 1950 and 1987 as Inv. 179. Two labels with inscriptions '5023' (Accorsi number), '179' (former Museum number).

Provenance
Collection of princes Trivulzio (Milan); bought from prince Luigi Alberico Trivulzio through the antique dealer Pietro Accorsi (Turin) in 1940.
