Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of polychromy and gilding: blue (inside the Virgin's veil and lining of her robe), gold (decorative pattern made of pseudo-kufic inscription along the neckline).
Reverse
Carved in the round. Pierced with a hole in which a piece of metal is visible.
Object Condition
Missing: right arm of the Virgin (except for her hand; a replacement arm has been carved); left forearm and head of Christ; fingers on Christ's right hand; lower part of the piece; flower stem (?) the Virgin was holding in her right hand.
Nose of the Virgin broken; veil chipped.
