Ivory;silver (later lid and fittings)

Height: 53mm
Width: 104mm (diameter)

Flagellation; whips. Carrying of the Cross with the Virgin helping Christ. Crucifixion with the Virgin and saint John the Evangelist; Longinus with spear kneeling in prayer; Stephaton giving Christ vinegar; Stephaton holding a bucket. Deposition with the Virgin holding Christ's hand; Joseph of Arimathea holding Christ's body; man with pincers removing the nail from Christ's feet. Entombment (Anointing of Christ's body).

Museum's opinion 2012: Rhineland, 14th century.

Carved on all sides.

Comments
The silver fittings and lid were made by Andreas Richter Jr in 1686, as indicated by the incised inscriptions on the lid: 'ECCE AGNUS DEI QUI TOLLIT PECCATA MUNDI. Johann.I.v.29', and on the bottom: 'CIBUS ESURIENTIUM FIDE MEDIATOREM AD 1686'.

Provenance
From the church of saint Peter and saint Paul in Görlitz; Städtische Kunstsammlungen Görlitz; brought to the National Museum in Warsaw in 1945.
