Ivory

Height: 88mm
Width: 58mm

Crucifixion with the Virgin and saint John the Evangelist; saint John the Baptist holding the Lamb of God (Agnus Dei); saint Catherine of Alexandria with wheel and martyr's palm.
Pierced trefoils.

Museum's opinion 2009: France or Flanders, 1st half of 15th century (based on the opinion of Danièle Gaborit-Chopin, Curator at the Louvre, 2002).

Unknown

Reverse
Hidden by a leather-covered mount.

Object Condition
Broken in several places. Two holes in the upper border and in the lower border.

Comments
The skull is a modern addition.

Provenance
Maybe part of the bequest made by Félix and Josias Le Sérurier in 1883 (museum archives disappeared in 1917).
