Crucifixion with the Virgin and saint John the Evangelist.

Museum's opinion 2012: France (Paris?), late 14th century.

Hinges
Traces of two missing hinges on the left side.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Rounded longer edges.
Labels with inscriptions: '1682' and 'Inv. 4406' (wrong: should be 4409).

Object Condition
Central hole in the upper part of the panel for hanging. Vertical crack cutting through Christ's left arm. Cracked around the hinges. Missing: part of the Virgin's face.

Provenance
Acquired by Bruno Vayson, first husband of Marie Labadié from the art dealer Dentaly in November 1879 (30 francs); Marie, following the death of her second husband, Louis Grobet, in 1917, gave her collection to the city of Marseille in 1919; the museum opened to the public in 1925.
