Wing, left
Register 1: Crucifixion; swooning Virgin supported by Holy Women; saint John the Evangelist and onlookers holding scrolls; sun and moon.
Register 2: Nativity with Annunciation to the Shepherds; musician shepherd playing the bagpipes; sheep.
Wing, right
Register 1: Christ displaying his wounds; Christ in Glory with his feet on a city (possibly Jerusalem); angels holding Instruments of the Passion (spear; nails; cross); Virgin and saint John the Baptist kneeling.
Register 2: Adoration of the Magi; angel crowning the Virgin.

Traces of two missing hinges.

Reverse
Handwritten inscription: 'Quatuor eburnae/Imagines dicuntur/opera seculi 800mi' (back of right wing); verus Possessor/Albergatus Ehlen/Prior Cartusiae/Revirensis. 1781' (back of left wing).

Provenance
Collection of Albergatus Ehlen, Trier (inscription on the back giving the date of 1781). Convent of the Welsh Nuns, Liège (Welschennonnen). Collection of Msgr. Schoolmeesters, Liège (from 1905 until at least 1924). Private collection, France. Collection of Willem Neutelings-Heuts, Braaschaat (from 1981): given to the Museum in 1992.
