Reverse
Reverse divided into 5 compartments, the central one being circular. This indicates that this panel originally was part of a set of writing tablets.

Comments
Recessed on both sides to take wax. Front faintly scratched with a post-medieval signature reading 'Henry' (?).

Provenance
Found at 34-40 Finsbury Pavement, Moorfields, London EC2 (City of London). Purchased by the Guildhall Museum in 1929 from Sir Howell J. Williams and the Anglo-Persian Oil Company (with other 16th- and 17th-century objects from the site); London Museum merged with the Guildhall Museum in 1976 to form the Museum of London.
