Christ before Herod; soldiers in armour; canopy.
Engraved inscription: 'HERODE'.

Museum's opinion 2013: 19th century (before 1887), in a 15th-century German style.

Reverse
Hidden by the wooden frame.
Blue and white label with the inscription: 'No. 453'.

Object Condition
The panel is made of three different pieces of ivory which are held together by the frame.

Provenance
Collection of Friedrich Georg Hermann Culemann (b. 1811, d. 1886), Hannover; acquired by the city of Hannover in 1887.
