Height: 112mm (diameter)

Tournament in the woods; attendants on horseback arming the contending knights; attendant perched on a horse placing a helm over the head of a knight; attendants holding lances; attendant holding a helm; two pairs of jousting knights in the centre; broken lance; knight falling off his horse; helms decorated with various crests (bird (swan?); bull's head; banner); shields.
Foliated corner terminals.


Koechlin Number: 1041

Koechlin 1924: France, 2nd half of the 14th century (?); doubts the authenticity of this piece.
Museum's opinion 2012: France, 14th century.

Reverse
Steel mirror in place, possibly original.

Object Condition
The head of a knight on the left and two foliated corners of the left have broken off and beenglued back into place.

Comments
A lot of attention is given to the depiction of the crests and of costume (see laced tunic of one of the figures to the left.

Provenance
Carrand collection: bequeathed by Louis Carrand (d. 1888) to the Museo del Bargello in 1888.
