Reverse
Carved in the round. Fragment of label with inscription: '1656' in the hand of Ms Chirol; label with inscription in blue pencil, also in her hand: 'I T 1'. These inscriptions reflect her belief that this piece was part of the objects which were given by M. Thaurin to the Museum in 1877. It is however unlikely as these were exclusively antique pieces.

Provenance
According to Ms Chirol (assistant at the Museum c. 1940; later curator c. 1960), may have belonged to lot 1656 (D), given by Mr. Thaurin in 1877: this is however unlikely as this lot consisted of antique pieces.
