Wing, left
Register 1: angel holding a vessel.
Register 2: unidentified female saint holding an ointment pot and a book (possibly saint Clare).
Centre panel
Register 1: Crucifixion; swooning Virgin supported by saint John the Evangelist; sword piercing the Virgin's chest; onlookers; sun and moon.
Register 2: Entombment.
Wing, right
Register 1: angel.
Register 2: unidentified female saint holding a martyr's palm and a book.
Incised trefoil in the gable.
Base decorated with engraved chevrons.

Falke 1928: 19th century.
Verdier 1962: Italy, 14th century.
Kryzhanovskaya 2014: 2nd quarter of the 19th century.

Unknown

Hinges
Two hinges on either side.

Reverse
Flat and smooth.
Ink inscription on the back of the centre panel: 'vechnoi pamiati Petra Ivanovicha Sevastianova' (In honour of Petr Ivanovich Sevastianov).

Object Condition
Left wing damaged. Multiple vertical cracks.

Provenance
Collection of Nikolai Vasil'evich Isakov (b. 1821, d. 1891), Moscow, c. 1868. Collection of Mikhail Petrovich Botkin (b. 1839, d. 1914), Saint Petersburg; transferred to the Hermitage in 1919.
