Seated Virgin and Child; Christ seated on the Virgin's right knee; bare-chested Christ; Virgin holding a flower in her left hand; Christ holding an open book in his left hand; Christ holding a fruit in his right hand; crown.
Base: faces.

Vöge 1900: German, late 14th century.
Volbach 1923: Northern Italy, c. 1400.
Darmstadt and Munich 1999: Northern Italy (?), 1st third of the 15th century.
Museum's opinion 2010: Northern Italy, 1st third of the 15th century.

Traces of polychromy and gilding: hair, along the hems, flowers; fruit; crown.

Reverse
Curved. Carved in the round but lower relief on the back.

Provenance
Acquired in Fürth (near Nuremberg) in 1854 for the Kunstkammer.
