Annunciation to the Shepherds; musician shepherd playing the bagpipes; angel; sheep.
Pinnacles.

Tardy 1966: late 13th-early 14th century.
Museum's opinion 2013: France (?), 1st half of the 14th century.

Hinges
Traces of two missing hinges on the right side.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Longer edges rounded.
Label with handwritten inscription: 'Portion d'oratoire de poche en ivoire sur laquelle on voit une Annonciation aux bergers. Cet ouvrage peut dater du 12e ou du 13e siècle'. Pencil inscription above: 'Cette écriture est de Bruand' [this hand is that of Bruand].

Object Condition
Faces of both shepherds chipped.
Two holes in the background.

Provenance
Bequest of Jean-Jacques Bruand in 1863.
