Wing, left
Standing Virgin and Child (Vierge glorieuse); two angels holding candlesticks; angel crowning the Virgin.
Wing, right
Crucifixion with the Virgin and saint John the Evangelist; sun and moon.
Rounded trefoils in the spandrels.

Museum's opinion 2013: French (Ile de France), 14th century.

Unknown

Hinges
Two later hinges.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Slightly chamfered on the inner side of each wing. Blue and white labels with inscriptions: '972' and '53'.

Provenance
In the collection assembled by Alexandre Le Grand for the museum by 1888. Described in a pre-1888 handwritten inventory kept at the museum as: 'Petit diptyque en ivoire: la Ste Vierge et l'Enfant Jésus et le Christ en croix. XIIIe siècle.' (p. 7).
