Scene 1: Elopement (variation on Attack on the Castle of Love); lovers on a horse; couples watching from the castle battlements; offering of a chaplet (gift of a chaplet); youth chucking his lover under the chin; bridge; youth in a boat.
Scene 2: Tournament; ladies (including a queen) and youths observing the jousting knights in armour from a balcony; two heralds in trees blowing trumpets; horses; shields.
Scene 3: Attack on the Castle of Love; knight in armour and ladies watching from the castle battlements; catapult throwing flowers; knights in armour assaulting the castle; ladies throwing flowers from the battlements; knight climbing a ladder.

Object Condition
Thirty-one drilled holes, nineteen of which have been filled with an ivory-like material. Numerous cracks.The three columns have been re-carved and pigmented to match the rest of the panel. Some of the original carving was altered when the columns were re-carved.

Provenance
Trivulzio collection, Milan (before 1897). Collection of Robert von Hirsch, Frankfurt-am-Main (until 1933) and Basel: sold, Sotheby's, Parke Bernet, London, 22 June 1978, lot 290; bought by the museum thanks to the John L. Severance Fund.
