In the gable: angel holding two crowns.
Register 1: Franciscan saints; franciscan nun holding a book and a rosary (saint Clare or saint Agnes of Bohemia); male bishop with mitre and crozier (saint Louis of Anjou or saint Bonaventura of Bagnoregio).
Register 2: Visitation.
Register 3: Adoring Magi (part of an Adoration of the Magi).
Pointed trefoils in the spandrels. Twisted columns.

Martini and Rizzardi 1990: France, 2nd quarter of the 14th century (?).
Martini 2004: France (?), 2nd quarter of the 14th century (?).


Traces of two missing hinges on either side.

Flat with crosshatchings.

Object Condition
Hole in the gable.

This panel originally was the innermost left wing of a tabernacle. Immediately to the right would have been the central part with a representation of the Virgin and Child. If the crowns in the gable are to be interpreted with the saints below, it would argue in favour of Agnes of Bohemia and Louis of Anjou, both royal saints (Martini and Rizzardi 1990).

Classense collection, i.e. collection assembled by the Camaldolese monks of Sant'Apollinare in Classe near Ravenna, acquired mainly during the 18th century; with the suppression of religious orders in 1797, the possessions of Ravenna's important abbeys passed on to the Comune of Ravenna; in 1804, the Museo Classense Municipale was established, which would become in 1885 the Museo Nazionale di Ravenna.
