Seated Virgin and Child (Virgo lactans); Christ in long robe; Christ standing in the Virgin's lap; Virgin holding Christ with both hands; bench decorated with roses.

Reverse
Carved in the round. The back of the bench is decorated with a band of roses. Label with printed inscription: '181'.

Object Condition
Missing: Virgin's right breast (replaced); crown (two attachment holes for metal crown).

Provenance
Carlo Micheli collection (d. 1895?), Paris: sold with the rest of his collection in 1898 by his daughter, Marie Micheli, to Fritz Mayer van den Bergh (b. 1858, d. 1901), Antwerp; upon his death, his mother Henriëtte had a purpose-built museum erected (1901-1904) to house his collection.
