Register 1: Nativity and Annunciation to the Shepherds; musician shepherd holding bagpipes.
Register 2: Presentation in the Temple with Joseph; maid holding a candlestick and a basket of doves brought as offerings.
Rosettes.

Hinges
Traces of two missing hinges.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Back of right wing: remains of a torn label with inscription 'LOAN FROM'. Back of left wing: remains of a torn label with inscription '[LOAN] FROM Rupell/June 2nd 1862'. Ink inscription: 'V X'(?).

Provenance
Rupell collection (in 1862; see label on the back of the left wing). Collection of James Ludovic Lindsay (b. 1847, d. 1913), 26th Earl of Crawford; purchased in 1901 together with manuscripts from the Bibliotheca Lindesiana by Enriqueta Rylands (b. 1843, d. 1908) for the John Rylands Library.
