Register 1: Carrying of the Cross.
Register 2: Judas receiving the reward.
Centre panel
Register 1: Entombment (missing).
Register 2: Crucifixion with the Virgin and saint John the Evangelist; Longinus with spear kneeling in prayer; Stephaton giving Christ vinegar.
Register 3: Betrayal (Taking of Christ; Kiss of Judas). Death of Judas (Judas hanging). Pilate washing his hands.
Wing, right
Register 1: Deposition with the Virgin holding Christ's hand; Joseph of Arimathea holding Christ's body; man with pincers removing the nail from Christ's feet; saint John the Evangelist.
Register 2: Flagellation.

Utrecht 1987: France, 2nd quarter of the 14th century.
Koekkoek 1987: early 14th century style (?).
Museum's opinion 2013: France, c. 1300-1325.

Hinges
Two sets of two ring hinges on either side.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of gilding and polychromy (in 1929): gold (hair; along the hems), blue, red and green (clothes).

Reverse
Flat; crosshatching. Traces of glue.
Black ink inscription: 'T3177'.

Object Condition
Missing: upper register of the centre panel.

Comments
The upper register of the centre panel featured the Entombment, as can be guessed from the remaining portion (lower part of the tomb and bystanders visible).

Provenance
Collection of Hugo Elbing: his sale, Munich, 9-10 April 1929, lot 116, pl. I. Collection of Daniël George van Beuningen (b. 1877, d. 1955), Rotterdam; purchased from his collection in 1958.
