Standing Virgin and Child; Christ in long robe; Christ seated on left arm; Virgin holding a flower in her right hand; Christ holding a fruit in his left hand; Christ pulling the back of the Virgin's veil; belt.


Koechlin Number: 0102

Koechlin 1924: France, 1st half of 14th century.
Stuttmann 1966 and Museum's opinion 2013: French, beginning of the 14th century.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of gilding on the flower and along the hems, decorative pattern on the Virgin's dress.

Reverse
Carved in the round.

Object Condition
Missing: head and left hand of Christ (later replacements). The edge of the Virgin's cloak and her crown are partly broken.

Provenance
Collection of Friedrich Georg Hermann Culemann (b. 1811, d. 1886), Hannover (no. 439); acquired by the city of Hannover in 1887.
