Courting couple (meeting of lovers); lady crowning her kneeling lover with a chaplet; offering of a flower; trees.
Crosshatched background.
Corner terminals: crouching monsters.

Museum's opinion 2009: French (Paris), 2nd half of the 14th century.

Reverse
Back turned with a depression for (missing) mirror. Traces of glue; white label with ink inscription: '346'. Blue and white label with the inscription: 'Collection Wernher no. 104'.

Object Condition
Missing: two lower crouching monsters.
Lower edge chipped. Central hole in the upper part of the piece.

Provenance
Collection of Sir Julius Wernher (d. 1912), Bath House, London; on loan to English Heritage and displayed at Ranger's House since 2002.
