Depth: 9 mm (8mm minimum depth)

Resurrection; two angels standing on the tomb; blessing gesture.
Medallions containing quatrefoils enclosing protruding cones in the spandrels.


Koechlin Number: 0506

London 1923: French, 1st half of the 14th century.
Koechlin 1924: French, 1st quarter of 14th century.
Warren 2014: probably French (or English?), 2nd quarter of the 14th century.

Hinges
Traces of two missing hinges on the right side.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Traces of glue.
Handwritten ink inscription: ‘584 (Dr. Plot’s catalogue Liber Decani Aedis Christi. Date 1691)’ and ‘537' (on label), '(catalogue of 1756)’. Label with inscription ‘Ashmolean’.

Object Condition
Upper left corner and edge damaged. Right protruding cone broken.
Missing: hands of the angel on the left and Christ’s nose. Christ’s thumb is chipped.
Two central holes in the upper part of the panel.

Provenance
Probably collection of John Tradescant (at least from 1656); collection of Elias Ashmole (d. 1692); given by him to the Museum in 1683; Department of Western Art (WA1908.187); transferred to the Department of Antiquities in May 2008).
