Seated Virgin and Child; Virgin holding a bird in her right hand; Christ in long robe; Christ standing on the Virgin's left knee; Christ holding a fruit in his left hand.


Koechlin Number: 0696

Koechlin 1924: France, 2nd half of 14th century.
Liebgott 1985 and Museum's opinion 2013: France, c. 1350.


Attribution
Unknown

Reverse
Curved with crosshatching (pulp cavity visible). Later strip of wood with metal loop for hanging.
Incised inscription: 'MCCCLXIIII' (previous classification number).

Object Condition
Missing: head of Christ, Virgin's crown (metal ?).

Provenance
Gift of Mr Monrad, councillor, in 1825.
