Tournament; courting couples; ladies and youths observing the jousting knights in armour from a balcony; horses; shields.
Foliated corner terminals.
Animal heads (dogs?) in the spandrels

Sponsel 1921: 14th century.
Koechlin 1924: France, 19th century (?).
Museum’s opinion 2013: 19th century (in Gothic style)(?).

Back turned with a depression for (missing) mirror.

Object Condition
Worn. Vertical cracks. Central hole in the upper part of the piece.

Provenance
Mentioned in the 1879 inventory of the Ivory Room in the Grünes Gewölbe Museum.
