Courting couple (meeting of lovers); couple playing chess; man with his left hand around the pole supporting the tent; youth or lady with a hawk on his wrist; youth or lady holding a chaplet.
Corner terminals: four crouching hybrids.

Glasgow 1988: French (Paris?), 19th century.
Glasgow Museums' opinion 2013: 2nd half of the 19th century or early 20th century, in a French 14th-century style.


Flat and smooth.

Object Condition
Darker vertical strip down the middle of the piece.

Bought by Sir William Burrell from Mr John Hunt, Dublin, 16 October 1947 for £120; given to the City of Glasgow by Sir William and Constance, Lady Burrell, in 1944.
