Height: 180mm

Standing Virgin and Child; Christ seated on left arm; Christ in long robe; Child pulling the front of the Virgin's veil; Christ holding a bird in his left hand; Virgin holding a fruit in her right hand; crown.

Calkins 1968: France, beginning of the 14th century.
Randall 1985 and Museum's opinion 2010: France (Paris), 1340-1360.

Reverse
Carved in the round.

Object Condition
Right hand of the Virgin and upper torso of Christ Child have been restored. Repairs on the base, the Virgin's feet, the lower edges of her clothes.
Randall: restorations probably by the same restorer who inset the torso of the Christ Child on 71.240, which was in the Carlo Micheli collection before 1895.

Bought by Henry Walters before 1931; Walters Art Museum, 1931, by bequest.
