Male bearded figure pointing his finger (possibly a prophet).
Foliated decoration.

Museum's opinion 2014: 15th century (?).

Carved in the round.

Object Condition
Missing: right arm, possibly originally holding a scroll.

Comments
The eyes are pierced with holes filled with a dark substance.
This piece certainly was one of the projections along the rim of a crozier head (see Italian croziers for comparison). Hole on the underside for attachment to the volute.

Provenance
Collection of John Hunt (b. 1900, d. 1976) and Gertrude Hunt (b. 1903, d. 1975), Limerick; now part of the Hunt Museum which opened in 1997.
