Virgin of Mercy (Schutzmantelmadonna); Virgin and Child sheltering under her cloak figures kneeling in prayer, including a bishop, a nun, a bearded man holding a rosary; naked Christ; Christ seated on left arm; Christ holding an open book.

Reverse
Carved in the round but lower relief on the back (very flat). Back of the base flat.

Object Condition
Missing: upper part of the Virgin's head.
Large hole in the bottom going all the way through the statuette and ending in a small hole at the top of the Virgin's head.
Bottom flat and smooth.

Provenance
Acquired in 1976.
