Seated Virgin and Child; Virgin holding Christ with both hands; Christ standing on the Virgin's left knee; Christ in a long robe; bench.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of polychromy: red (Virgin's veil).

Reverse
Carved in the round but lower relief on the back.

Object Condition
Missing: fingers on Christ's right hand. Drill hole at the bottom of the base.

Comments
The Virgin must have worn a metal crown at some point.

Provenance
Collection of Friedrich Georg Hermann Culemann (b. 1811, d. 1886), Hannover; acquired by the city of Hannover in 1887.
