Standing Virgin and Child; Christ seated on left arm; Virgin holding a flower in her right hand; belt; crown.

Tozzi 2003: Southern France (Provence), late 13th century-early 14th century.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of gilding and polychromy: patterns along the hems and foliate scrolls on the Virgin's cloak.

Reverse
Carved in the round.

Object Condition
Missing: left forearm of Christ (later replacement). The head of Christ and the right hand of the Virgin broke and were glued back into place.
Crown chipped.

Provenance
Considered to have been donated by the Angevin court to the Benedictine monastic community of Lugnano di Vazia after the coronation of Charles I of Anjou in Rieti. Formerly kept at the Church of Santa Maria in Categne, Lugnano di Vazia.
