Death of the Virgin (Dormition); Christ holding the soul of the Virgin; blessing gesture; apostles including saint John the Evangelist.
Pointed trefoils in the spandrels; incised trefoils in the gables.

Williamson and Davies 2014: probably German (Rhenish), c. 1360-1380.


Attribution
Unknown

Reverse
Recessed to receive the wax, with a raised border.

Object Condition
Two holes in the upper part of the panel.
Damage in the middle of the right border.
Vertical crack from the upper edge to about half way down the plaque.

Provenance
Probably given to the Museum by Mrs. Ellen Hearn, widow of Alfred William Hearn (d. 1903) in 1923.
