Unknown

Hinges
Trace of one missing hinge on the right side. Shallow rebate along the right edge indicating a straw hinge.

Polychromy - Gilding
Faint traces of polychromy (red).

Reverse
Flat and smooth with inscription 'Wilson / Nr 120 / 103.'

Object Condition
Missing: left side of the panel.
Ivory has been cut down at top and bottom.
Chipped.

Comments
This piece may have formed one register of the left wing (probably from a three-register diptych, judging from its dimensions). It may have come from the same diptych as another fragment formerly in the Martin Le Roy collection (see Williamson and Davies 2014). See related objects.

Provenance
Probably in the collection of dealer Samuel Willson (sometimes spelled Wilson), London, recorded between 1839 and 1880 (see inscription on the back). Purchased by the Museum from A. Garabed, London with Circ.1019-1925 in 1925.
