Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of polychromy: red (drapery of the Virgin's dress).

Reverse
Carved in the round but lower relief on the back.

Object Condition
The Virgin formerly wore a later metal crown. Missing: parts of three fingers of Virgin's right hand; object (probably stem of flowers) in the Virgin's right hand; Christ's left hand, head and neck. Two holes at the back of the Virgin's veil. Damaged along the right side at the back. Three holes in maphorion. Dark stains on the reverse.

Provenance
On loan since 1995 to the Wawel Royal Castle from the Convent of the Reformed Franciscans in Cracow.
