Possible traces of polychromy (red) found on the background.
Reverse
Brass handle with incised flower decoration set in slot in the lower half that presumably replaced the ivory original affixed with two rivets that pass through the body of Christ, and a third at the base of the Cross.
Carved inscription at bottom in textura: 'Heer p orthen/ten bos'; accession numbers; dealer's label.
Object Condition
Small crack and adjacent minor losses parallel to base of cross.
